Daniel Alan Cowart was the founder and CEO of Aaron Oil Company, Inc. His passion for recycling, reclamation, and
petroleum production enabled him to grow the one-truck company in 1981 to one of the fastest-growing companies
in the country. Dan's enthusiasm and pioneer spirit also empowered him to found the International Used Oil
Research Institute and the International Hydrocarbon Services, LLC in 1995 and 2014, respectively. Dan was also
past president of the National Oil Recycler's Association and served on its the Board of Directors.
One of six siblings, Dan was known for his positive outlook, joy, and exuberance. An accomplished musician and
man of great faith, he founded Fellowship Ministries in 1980, which grew to include other ministries, such as Audio
Outreach International and The Freedom and Family Tour. Its mission was to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ by
taking inspirational country music to radio, military, and NASCAR events.
Vertex Energy, Inc. is honored to help the students of Saraland High School by participating in the Saraland-
Satsuma-Chickasaw Scholarship Fund in Daniel Cowart's name. May his entrepreneurial spirit, avid curiosity, and
enthusiasm for learning continue in the hearts and minds of these students as they continue to learn and grow.
